How to Get Rid of Painful Cystic Acne

If you don’t already know, I have been struggling with painful cystic acne on my face, cheeks, and jawline for the past 11 years. I don’t know what causes severe cystic acne, but I have tried everything from using birth control for hormonal acne, antibiotics for cystic acne, steroids, and even Accutane for cystic acne. Although I found relief from each treatment for a while, each treatment just acted like a bandage. My acne would be cured for months or even years, but it always returned. After months of a beautiful, acne-free face, I started breaking out again. I knew I had been down every road before, so this time it was time to try something new. Today I am going to share with you my skincare routine that cured my cystic acne. Roccoco Botanical Soothing Cleansing Oil

The Roccoco Botanical Soothing Cleansing Oil is an all in one type of oil based cleanser. This cleanser goes on smoothly and with just one to two pumps it removes all types of makeup and dirt with ease all without risking the loss of the skin’s natural moisture. This soothing cleansing oil is designed for sensitive acne-prone skin that is dehydrated and inflamed. This was perfect for me because of my painful cystic acne. Using dry hands, I pump one to two pumps of the cleansing oil onto my fingers. If I am washing off a day’s worth of makeup, I will use two pumps. If I am just washing my face in the morning or after a makeup-free afternoon, I only use one pump. After rubbing in the Roccoco Botanical Soothing Cleansing Oil on for 1-2 minutes, I rinse my face off with water which leaves my skin looking clean and refreshed. I typically go over my face with a clean face towel as well just to be sure I get all of my makeup off on areas such as my neck, near my ears, and along my hairline.

Roccoco Botanicals Purifying Treatment Essence

The Purifying Treatment Essence comes in a spray bottle and is great for combination, problematic, and even pigmented skins. Not only will the Purifying Treatment Essence help to exfoliate and minimize the appearance of pores and help remove any makeup that might have been missed while cleansing, but it also helps heal acne scarring at home. I simply spray 4-5 pumps of this on a cotton round and wipe down my face and neck. If I feel like I missed a bit of makeup along my hair or neckline, I will fold the cotton round over, spray a few more pumps and wipe again.

Roccoco Botanicals Mandelic + Fusion & Ceramide Booster & Peptide Serum

I like to mix together these three ingredients together and use them all at one time. I simply use ½ a pump of each product, use my fingers to lightly mix them together, and then I rub this mixture into my face and neck.

The Mandelic + Fusion is soothing and antibacterial. It helps treat acne and inflammation and even helps assist the skin in a natural exfoliation process.
The Ceramide Booster is great for compromised skin barriers such as flaking and dehydrated skin. After using so many drying chemicals trying to repeatedly dry out acne overnight, this was a lifesaver!
The Peptide Serum helps with wrinkles and protects the skin from climate changes such as cold air and wind.. Umm hello, North Dakota!

With these three products, I love that I am treating my acne, hydrating my compromised barrier and even reducing the appearance of wrinkles!

Roccoco Botanicals Skin Nectar

Roccoco Botanicals Skin Nectar is a lightweight and mattifying moisturizer that treats acne, aging, and pigmentation. I love this product because it is truly is the lightest moisturizer I have even put on my skin. It helps calm my pores, helps with scarring and redness, and even helps with wrinkles! Roccoco Botanicals Sulfur Mask

The Roccoco Botanicals Sulfur Mask was exactly what I needed at the beginning of my acne journey. Although I only needed to wear this mask for fifteen minutes, I often left it on for hours and even overnight. A little bit goes a long way with this mask. In the beginning, I was often using the mask over my entire face and jawline and I still have at least half of my tube left. This mask is antibacterial and has a bit of a gritty feel to it which helps with exfoliation. Within seconds of smoothing it over my skin, I could see the redness and inflammation going down. Plus, a major bonus for this mask is that it also helps with scarring. Below you will see a picture from the first time I tried the sulfur mask.

Four Minute Skin Care Routine

Overall, yes, I am aware that these are a lot of products to use both morning and night. Without the mask, I would say it takes about three to four minutes to cleanse, tone, cocktail, and moisturize. I understand that eight minutes a day might be too much for some, but when given the choice of having clear beautiful skin that I feel confident in, or to save the eight minutes but be back to where I began, I will choose the clear skin every.single.day!

Does Acne Scar Go Away?

So we know you’re all wondering, “Can acne scars go away?” or “Will acne scars go away?” Well, while I will continue using the Roccoco Botanicals skincare and treating acne scars at home, I will also be working with The Rejuvenation Place to do some healing with their medical grade equipment. Don’t forget though, there is a difference between acne scars vs marks. Some of the red marks you see on my face might just be my face healing, although there is a lot of scarring too!
