Emergency Substitute Binder
Hey Teacher,
Can I be real with you for a sec?
You might think that you'll never need an emergency substitute binder because you always plan ahead, but what about when there is an actual emergency?
Let me give you a few examples that have happened to either myself or coworkers over the past five years:
The garage door wouldn't open and their car was stuck inside
A construction company was pouring concrete and blocking their driveway
A car accident/flat tire on the way to work
Daycare called and they needed to pick up their child ASAP
A Sick child in the middle of the night
A family emergency
Did you catch my trend?
None of these incidents were about BEING SICK. They weren't even about needing to call in sick to work.
All of these examples either prevented my coworkers from getting to work due to outside factors or caused them to have to leave work in the middle of the day.
But let's be real, chances are, you will probably wake up sick some morning or get sick at least once mid-day and need to go home.
This is why having an EMERGENCY Sub Binder is so important!
Plus, Emergency Sub Binders don't have to just be for emergencies.
Every single time I write sub plans and need to be gone, I always leave my emergency binder out anyway.
The reason I do this is because my sub binder includes all of my emergency procedures, class lists, classroom management plan, etc, along with extra fill activities if the sub needs or even if the lesson isn't going as planned and the sub wants to do something else.
By having an emergency substitute binder, you won't have to worry about being gone, because everything you need for a sub is right there!
What to Include in a Sub Binder:
Class lists
Emergency Procedures
Early Finisher Activities
Phone Lists
Class Schedule
Classroom Management Plan
++ So much more!
